Being a competent Quran tutor

Being a Quran tutor is a matter of great prestige for any Muslim. This is because the prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) said,

“The best among you is the one who learnt Quran and taught it to others”.

It is extremely important for a Quran tutor to be competent. For being, a competent Quran tutor one must take the following steps.

· First, the person must decide if he or she really wants to be a Quran tutor. It is a matter of great honor but a job of great responsibility too.

· The Quran tutor must realize that his or her job is of a very sensitive nature. A single mistake can cause a lot of damage. Only the people who think they can take and handle great responsibility should become the Quran tutor.

· The person who wants to teach the Quran should decide a niche for himself or herself. This is because the scope of the Quran teaching is very broad. One can teach Arabic reading or Tajweed. Other than that, one can teach the translation of the Quran. Alternatively, one can become an expert in explaining the Quran.

· The tutor must also decide if he or she wants to teach the kids or the adults because the style of teaching for both is usually different.
