Islam is a religion that asks its followers to seek knowledge more than anything else. Learning is very basic to Islam. In fact, Holy Quran, the religious Scripture of Muslims is a book of knowledge and guidance itself, as mentioned by Allah Almighty as:
Al-Baqara [2:231] …..He sent down to you the book and Wisdom, for your instruction. And fear Allah and know that Allah is well acquainted with all things.
It means a person who wants to seek knowledge and become learned, should begin his quest by Quran learning in the very first place. Just have a look at what greatest of all, Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) said about learning the knowledge in general and knowledge of religion in particular.
That person who shall die while he is studying, in order to revive the knowledge of religion, will be only one degree inferior to the prophets.
Without any doubt, the best source of knowledge of religion is Quran itself. That is why Quran learning holds a place so important for all Muslims. Not only it serves to increase knowledge of a person, but it also serves to get human beings close to God by indulging themselves in an activity that pleases Him.
"Allah!
None has the right to be worshipped but He, the Ever Living, the One Who
sustains and protecs all the exists. It is Who has sent down the Book (Al
Quran) to you with the truth, confirming what came before it, and He sent
down the Taurat (Torah) & the Injil (Gospel)."

Imran: 2-3)
